Day 7 – Monday, February 2, 2026

As you will surely agree, Chile has some very pretty sights. The ladies with the melon treated me - so nice! Otherwise a bit of a weird day. I could not find my gloves after I started riding, found an entrance to a house - and as a nod to Murphy, the tenant had to enter right when I unpacked my back bags. So I stuffed everything in, and decided to ride a mile or two to the kiosk I had dinner, then back to the campground. It was then I realized I hadn't checked my front bags - and they there were! But an hour or so lost.

Soon thereafter, two gentlemen on their mountain bikes came in front of me and as I had some bike issues, asked if they knew a mechanic. Omar did and it was about 10 km away, he even accompanied ne for part of the way. I reached , which (thr Magician's) house and in about an hour, fixed all my issues. He asked for just €5 - ans did not accept a tip. How professional and accommodating!

I climbed a big hill, at the end of which I had the first glimpse of the Pacific. Then my tire started getting flat (the second day in a row). In a small town, I got it fixed - they were very friendly.

My night was at a campground, which I reached after a 7km detour (back and forth that is 14km - not immaterial! While the label I would give this eco-friendly camping is coool, it did not have warm water, electricity, internet or a washing machine. They were very nice, though!, as well!
